Unemployment Rate Shows Slight Uptick In Shasta County

Shasta County’s unemployment rate has edged up a little, showing a 4.6% rate for June. It was 4% in May and 4.9% in June of last year. There were 500 fewer jobs in Shasta County in June than there were in May. Sheila Stock with E.D.D. says manufacturing jobs have made a significant comeback, and Redding’s construction boom is also showing in the job numbers. California’s unemployment rate held steady at 4.2% in June. The nationwide rate was 3.8%
