A man was ambushed in Cottonwood early Sunday morning. Joshua Davis called 9-1-1 at 3:07AM and said he had been driving home from work on Gas Point Road near Rancho Estate Road when several people flagged him down. He stopped to ask what was wrong and they assaulted him. Davis tried to draw his 9 millimeter pistol on his attackers, but he dropped it during the struggle and one of the assailants picked it up and ran away, with the others following. Davis was carrying the gun legally with a concealed weapons permit. The suspects ran to a nearby house on Gas Point Road, and Davis said he saw one of them standing in front of the house waving the gun in the air, taunting him. Davis met up with deputies at the Gas Point Market, and the deputies proceeded to the house and made demands on their loudspeakers for everyone to come out of the house. Several were detained and two of them, 20-year-old Christopher Miller and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested for robbery. The house and property were searched, but Davis’ gun was not found.
