A garage and much of a home in Palo Cedro was destroyed by fire Monday night. At around 6:40PM Cal Fire/Shasta County Fire was called to a house at the end of a long driveway off Gilbert Drive. They found the garage to be fully involved, and it was gutted before crews were able to get the fire out. Flames spread into about half of the living area of the house, causing extensive damage. About a half acre of vegetation burned as well. The cause is under investigation.
The cause is still not known for a fire that destroyed a shop in North Redding Monday night. Redding Fire Department was called out a little before 9 O’clock to Peterson Lane off Lake Boulevard. They found a shop building fully involved in fire that was spreading to vegetation. The spread was quickly halted and then the building fire was extinguished. It was a total loss. Apparently the property was unoccupied. The damage is estimated at $10,000 for the structure and $1,000 for the contents.
