Man Who Intentionally Started Fire During Carr Fire Faces 7 Years In Prison

Daniel Stephen Dulaney could hardly have chosen a worse time to start an arson fire. On July 30th of last year the area was under a state of emergency as the Carr Fire continued to rage and the people of Redding were in a state of high anxiety. Every firefighter was committed to the Carr Fire and resources were stretched thin. That’s when Dulaney lit up an open field of dry weeds near Highway 44 and Dana Drive, a highly populated area where a fire could easily have led to deadly consequences, according to the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office. On Wednesday Dulaney entered a guilty plea to arson. He’ll be sentenced on August 21st, and the D.A.’s Office says they’ll push for the maximum penalty of seven years in state prison.
