Man Found Hiding In Orchard After High Speed Chase

A Corning man thought he could outwit his pursuers, but he was wrong, according to the Corning Observer. Monday night a Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputy tried to make a traffic stop on a Chevy sedan on Corning Road, but the driver fled north on Rawson Road, reaching speeds of more than 120 miles an hour. As he approached Thomes Creek, the driver shut off his lights and turned onto Davis Road, then jumped over a fence and hunkered down in an orchard. 41-year-old Jeremy Allen Weichelt was found and arrested for felony evading.
