Investigators Make Two Arrests For 2013 Murder

Arrests have been made in a murder from six years ago in Redding. On May 7th of 2013 the body of 53-year-old Charles Roy Sweetwood was found in his apartment on S Street. He had been shot to death a number of days prior to the discovery. Redding Police worked the case for about 7 months and did multiple interviews of then-29-year-old Matthew Wade Hartman and then-23-year-old Carleen Annette Honaker. They were both considered suspects but they denied any involvement and investigators were unable to find enough proof to bring charges. RPD Investigator Rusty Bishop started looking into the case again early last year and uncovered new evidence. Last week arrest warrants were issued for burglary, robbery and murder. Hartman still lived in the area and was taken into custody Tuesday. Honaker had moved away but she was found and taken into custody Wednesday. Both are being held on a Million Dollars bail.
