CHP Planning DUI Checkpoint For Wednesday Evening

A midweek sobriety checkpoint will be conducted by the CHP somewhere in the unincorporated area of Shasta County. The California Highway Patrol says they want to be vigilant about busting impaired drivers on roads where there is a high frequency of drunk driving, and they especially want to send a message to those who mix alcohol with drugs. CHP drug recognition experts are trained in on-the-spot assessment of drivers suspected of being on drugs. They’ll also have handheld breath testing devices. The checkpoint will be on Wednesday somewhere in Shasta County outside the city limits of Redding, Anderson, and Shasta Lake. Drivers can make the process quicker by having drivers licenses ready to show to officers.
