“Farm Club” Hopes To Help Kids Pick Healthier Foods

A new local program is designed to encourage young people to eat more healthy food. “Healthy Shasta” has a booth set up at the Saturday farmer’s market handing out tokens to kids from 3 to 15 years old. On the first visit, the child will receive two 2 Dollar tokens to spend at the market. After the first visit, they can get another $2 token each time. They’re encouraged to make healthy food choices when they make their purchases and they’re asked to come back to the booth to show what they bought. The “Farm Club” program will run each Saturday morning from September 7th through October 12th. For more information, call Sara at 245-6457 or visit healthyshasta.org.
