CHP Planning Maximum Enforcement Period For Labor Day

Driving while impaired is never a good idea, but this weekend, anyone who does is more likely to get caught. The California Highway Patrol is conducting a maximum enforcement period, which means all available officers will be patrolling the area’s highways, especially watching for drug-impaired drivers. California has the highest number of officers trained as drug recognition experts in the country. Last Labor Day weekend, 36 people were killed on California roads and 1,084 were arrested for DUI. The maximum enforcement effort will go through Monday night.
