A riot involving 40 inmates broke out Friday at the High Desert State Prison in Susanville. Four inmates are hospitalized from the fighting, including two who are in critical condition with head injuries. Eleven others were treated for injuries at the prison. Two staff members were also hospitalized. The riot broke out in a medium security yard, then other inmates broke out of five dormitories to join the fighting.
