Siskyiou County Deputies Searching For Wanted Felon

A wanted man slipped away from a Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputy Thursday morning. At around 7AM the deputy was in Montague when he spotted 42-year-old Joshua Paul Lee, a repeated felon who used to live in Montague and was recently paroled to the Merced area, where he was supposed to remain. He’s suspected of evading the CHP in a pursuit in Northern Siskiyou County a few days ago, so law enforcement knew he was in the area. When the deputy saw him walk into a store Thursday morning he stopped and went inside. He confronted Lee and a companion and tried to detain him at gunpoint but Lee fled the store. The deputy tried to chase him but lost sight of him as he ducked around a corner. Other deputies responded and set up a perimeter, but Lee was not found. Witnesses last saw him running north on Ninth Street, and it’s believed he got a ride out of town with somebody. Joshua Lee is 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds with blue eyes, a shaved head and many tattoos from the neck down. Sheriff Jon Lopey says he should be considered armed and dangerous.
