Jury Convicts Unlicensed Contractor Of Felony

A Shasta County jury has convicted a fence builder of a felony for contracting without a license at a Carr Fire damaged home. Unlicensed contracting is generally a misdemeanor but it can be prosecuted as a felony when it’s done in a designated disaster area. Patrick Tenerelli was found guilty Thursday and he’ll be sentenced October 4th. Tenerelli also has a prior felony strike conviction. The Contractors State License Board only authorizes builders who go through criminal background checks, pass examinations, have four years verifiable experience and post a bond. Potential contractors can be checked through the website at cslb.ca.gov.
