An altercation between two people in Oak Run has led to a woman being hospitalized with gunshot wounds and a man going to jail. 54-year-old Dawne Maddox called 9-1-1 at 5:30 Wednesday afternoon from Mineral School Road off of Oak Run Road to report that she had been shot by her neighbor, 58-year-old Steve Smith. Just moments later, Smith called 9-1-1 to say that Dawne Maddox had run into him with a quadrunner. Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies from Burney and Redding rushed to the scene along with medical personnel. deputies provided first aid to Maddox until an ambulance arrived and transported her to a Redding hospital. Her condition is not known. Meanwhile, Smith was questioned but he refused to provide a statement. He was booked into jail for being a felon with a firearm and for assault with a firearm.
