The man killed by a train last Sunday has been identified. The accident happened about 12:30PM near the intersection of Eastside Road and Progress Drive. The decedent was positively identified as 72-year-old Gregory Keith Kroll of Redding. Kroll suffered major injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Kroll’s next-of-kin has been notified and a postmortem examination has been completed. The cause of death was due to blunt force trauma. Kroll was reportedly walking on the tracks just south of the South Market Street Overcrossing. The engineer reportedly blew the trains horn several times before the train struck Kroll.
