Wanted Parolee Captured After Standoff In Siskiyou County

A man from Montague who absconded from his parole in the Merced area and has been eluding the law in Siskiyou County was finally captured last week. 42-year-old Joshua Paul Lee evaded a CHP car chase September 1st, and slipped away from a deputy in Montague a few days later. Last Wednesday someone reported seeing lee in a silver car at a McCloud gas station. A deputy got there quickly and tried to stop the car but it escaped. With help from a CHP helicopter, the car was spotted on Oak Street in McCloud. Deputies believed Lee was hiding there in a fifth wheel travel trailer. A woman was in the trailer and she refused to allow a search. A sheriff’s sergeant ordered nearby homes evacuated and called in the SWAT Team. After negotiating with Lee for a while, he eventually came out of the trailer and surrendered. Two women were arrested for harboring a fugitive.
