Search Of Wrong-Way Drivers Home Uncovers Guns & Marijuana Grow

A drunk driver who drove the wrong way on Interstate Five and killed two people had a large illegal pot garden at home and illegal weapons, according to the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force. The CHP says 36-year-old Ramon Martinez Sadiel was impaired when he drove the wrong-way on Interstate Five early Friday morning and killed two people north of Lakehead. The newer Dodge pickup was going south in the northbound lanes when it smashed head-on into a Ford pickup just south of McCardle Flat Road at around 2:30AM. Both occupants of the Ford, a 29-year-old Mount Shasta man and a 30-year-old Oregon woman, were killed. Sadiel and his passenger suffered moderate injuries. Sadiel had recently moved from Miami, Florida to Old Shasta. A search warrant was served at the home Friday afternoon, resulting in the alleged discovery of a large scale indoor and outdoor marijuana growing operation. Agents also reported finding multiple guns, including an AR-15, high capacity magazines and a great deal of ammunition. Charges may eventually be filed against Sadiel for the guns and pot. He’s now in jail charged with felony DUI and two counts of vehicular manslaughter, with bail set at $2 Million.
