Mushroom Harvest Permits Available For Shasta Trinity National Forest

The 2019 harvest season for Matsutake Mushrooms will open this Friday September 20th on the McCloud Ranger District of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Permits will be good through November 30th. Forest visitors who want to harvest Matsutake Mushrooms on national forest system lands for sale must purchase a commercial harvest permit. Personal use permits are not available during the Matsutake season. The commercial permit also allows for the harvesting of other types of mushrooms such as the Butter Boletus, Puffballs and Shaggy Manes. Permits start at $5 with a four day 20 pound minimum for $20.
