Two Arrested During Probation Check In Cottonwood

A probation check has resulted in the arrest of two men on drug and stolen property charges. Saturday afternoon, deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3800 block of Country Estates Drive to a residence belonging to 44-year-old Bradley Wayne Jordan, who is currently on felony probation for maintaining a residence for drug sales or use and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person. Jordan is also currently pending felony charges for a second probation search conducted in June. Deputies detained Jordan Saturday, as well as 32-year-old Robert Don Layson. Layson has prior law enforcement contacts as and is currently on felony probation out of Tehama County for drug related crimes. Deputies located numerous items of drug paraphernalia, as well as a stolen motorcycle, a stolen air compressor, and stolen handheld 2-way radios. Deputies determined Layson was in possession of the stolen property and placed him under arrest on that charge and a probation violation. The owners of the stolen property were contacted to return their items. Based upon the drug paraphernalia located throughout the residence, Jordan was placed under arrest, and both men were then transported to the Shasta County Jail where they were booked. During the booking process, Layson admitted to possessing heroin concealed on his person. Additional charges of possession of a controlled substance were then added.
