“Operation Clear Tracks” Will Focus On Railway Crossing Safety

Redding Police will be working with Amtrak Police Wednesday in an effort to raise awareness and to enforce state railroad crossing and trespassing laws. “Operation Clear Tracks” is an effort by over 600 law enforcement agencies nationwide to reduce pedestrian and driver injuries around railroad crossings. In Redding, officers will be stationed at the railroad crossing at Placer Street and Yuba Street in Downtown Redding. According to federal statistics about every 3 hours a person or vehicle is hit by a train.
