Rebuilding After Carr Fire Leads Building Boom

Building is up over 200 percent in Shasta County compared to last years numbers, according to a recent economic data from the Chamber of Commerce. The recently released economic snapshot and business confidence survey shows that building is up 19.3% in the 2nd quarter of 2019 compared to the 1st quarter of 2018. Year over numbers show building is up 233% in the 2nd quarter of this year when compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018. Permits to rebuild after the Carr Fire has driven the growth. The survey also shows that sales tax, transient occupancy tax, and housing prices are all up when compared to last year. The survey also showed that the Redding business community is very optimistic about the future. 92% of those surveyed expect top line sales and profits will either grow or remain at current levels.
