Crews Nearly Contain All Lightning Sparked Fires

Fire crews battling red flag conditions were able to keep the lightning sparked fires from 3 weeks ago from growing out of control. The South Fire in the Yolla Bolly Wilderness is now 5,242 acres with 62% containment. The fire, 15 miles south of Platina, has charred more than 5,200 acres and is 62 percent contained.

The Middle Fire in the East Fork of Canyon Creek in the Trinity River Management Unit of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest has been smoldering but only grew about 10 acres. It has burned 1,339 acres and is now 89% contained.

Information on the Kidder 2 Fire in the Marble Mountain Wilderness was last updated Monday.It’s holding at 227 acres with 50 percent containment.

Crews have fully contained the big fire in Plumas National Forest 11 miles east of Taylorsville. The Walker Fire burned 54,608 acres, and was declared fully contained Wednesday.
