Supervisors Voice Concerns Over New Casino

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors has joined the Redding City Council in opposing a new casino in South Redding. The proposed Win-River Casino relocation has been met with opposition due to concerns of traffic and noise, as well as environmental impacts. Redding Rancheria wants to build the sprawling complex south of South Bonnyview Road alongside Interstate Five. In August the Redding City Council voted to send a letter opposing the casino project to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which will make the final decision. On Tuesday county supervisors voted to also send a letter to the BIA, citing nearly identical concerns. A large contingent of tribal supporters were in attendance.
