Teen Charged After Woman Found With Severe Head Injuries

A juvenile has been charged for a brutal attack on a staff member at a Palo Cedro group home. The facility on Tia Mia Lane is operated by Victor Treatment Centers. Deputies were called to the location a little before 8AM Monday morning. Outside the building near a vehicle they found an unresponsive woman who was unclothed from the waist down. She was suffering from severe blunt force trauma to her head. The victim had been outside on the ground for more than 7 and a half hours with temperatures in the 40’s and intermittent rain. She remains in intensive care and is still unable to communicate with detectives. Interviews of other staff members and residents of the group home quickly led to the identification of a 17-year-old boy as the suspect. He’s on probation for armed robbery out of Sacramento County, and had threatened the victim before. Those threats had been documented but not reported to law enforcement. The boy has been booked into juvenile hall for attempted murder, assault with intent to commit rape and aggravated mayhem. The district attorney’s office will be seeking to try him as an adult.
