After years of operating with 2 person crews, the Redding Fire Department will now be able to operate 3 person crews on the city’s engines. This is considered to be a significant improvement in both firefighter safety and more effective response to fires. On Monday, eight full-time firefighters and ten apprentice firefighters began work, going through department training. The apprentices will initially be working on fuel reduction projects.
