Join Gibson & Bremer For Think Pink Day Broadcast

Think Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness is a concept that has swept the nation, and it was born right here in Redding 23 years ago. It’s now promoted in venues that range from Nascar to rodeo to Major League Baseball and the NFL. The push for awareness of early detection is largely credited for an astounding 98-percent survival rate when caught early, making it one of the most curable forms of cancer. The entire Think Pink campaign started in 1996 here in Redding when the American Cancer Society and MD Imaging decided to do something big. Each year, more than 40-thousand bags are handed out containing educational information and souvenirs designed to spread the message of early detection through self examinations and mammograms. Those bags will be distributed at dozens of Northern California locations Thursday. In Redding they’ll be at the Tri-Counties Bank Downtown at Market and South Streets and at the post office on Churn Creek Road. Mornings with Gibson and Bremer will be live at the Tri-Counties Bbank location. Other pick-up points for the bags can be found at norcalthinkpink.org. Friday evening the Sundial Bridge will be awash in pink light, with educational speakers and entertainment as part of a Think Pink celebration.
