Sheriff Bosenko Announces Retirement

Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko has announced his early retirement. His last day will be December 30th. Bosenko has been in law enforcement for 40 years. He was elected sheriff in 2006, defeating Captain Brad MacDannold following the retirement of longtime Sheriff Jim Pope. Two elections went by with Bosenko unopposed on the ballot until June of 2018, when he faced a serious challenge from former Deputy John Greene, who secured the endorsement of the Shasta County Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Bosenko won the runoff election by less than 2,000 votes. The board of supervisors will have to name an interim replacement for the remainder of Bosenko’s four year term, most likely Undersheriff Eric Magrini.
