Police K9 Helps Officers Arrest Man After Fight Outside Raley’s

An employee of Raley’s Supermarket in North Redding tried to break up a fight in front of the store and was struck by a large stick. Redding Police were sent to the Lake Boulevard store Wednesday afternoon after multiple 9-1-1 callers reported the fight involving several people. There were many witnesses to the assault on the employee, allegedly by 23-year-old Jordan Gannon of Seattle, who fled to the McDonalds across the street. That’s where officers found him, still holding the stick and refusing to drop it. Eventually he set the stick down but he was still uncooperative, so officers pepper sprayed him. That didn’t work well enough so Otto the K9 was set loose on Gannon. After a trip to a hospital, Gannon was booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. The injuries to the Raley’s employee were minor.
