“Chronic Offender” Faces Over 5 Years In Prison

One of Shasta County’s designated chronic offenders is going to prison. Benjamin Shane Traphagan was on probation for two burglaries when a man caught him jumping out the window of an unoccupied home in Shasta Lake City. He was then spotted by a deputy two days later and ran from him. He was eventually caught. Traphagan entered a no contest plea to burglary and a prior strike conviction, meaning he’ll get only limited good behavior credits in prison. In December he’ll be formally sentenced to 5 years 4 months in state prison.
