RPD: Intoxicated Driver Strikes And Kills Pedestrian on Hilltop Drive

The Shasta County Coroners Office has released the name of a man who died after being struck by an allegedly drunk driver on Hilltop Drive over the weekend. Redding Police say 49-year-old Jeffrey Brown of Anderson was driving northbound on Hilltop at 1:45AM Sunday morning when he struck 67-year-old Donald Gene Kohls of McKinleyville in front of the Casino Club. Kohls was apparently in the street when he was hit. He was transported to Mercy Hospital and pronounced dead. Brown was booked into jail for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and 2nd degree murder. Witnesses are urged to contact Redding Police.
