Residents Can Now Recycle Styrofoam At Redding Transfer Station

The City of Redding is now accepting “expanded polystyrene”, for recycling. EPS is commonly called Styrofoam. Customers can take Styrofoam to the recycling drop-off area at the transfer station, Monday through Saturday from 8AM to 4:30PM. At this time, they’re not accepting it in the blue recycling carts. They can only recycle the rigid, crumbly block packaging type of EPS with the #6 in the chasing arrow symbol. If the material bends without breaking, it should be placed in the trash. As with cardboard, anything with dirt, food or any other contamination can not be recycled. Also, no packing peanuts of any kind are accepted. The city can also accept clean, dry EPS food containers such as egg cartons, coffee cups, and light colored meat trays.
