Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Fatal DUI Crash

A Los Molinos man has gotten a prison sentence for a drunken hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian. On the evening of December 17th of last year an elderly man was walking a bicycle along Highway 99 and was crossing Tehama-Vina Road when 26-year-old Jacob Henry Thomas Cady came along in his Ford Excursion. Cady had been drinking at a local bar and was intoxicated and driving too fast. He made a quick turn from the highway onto the road where the man with the bicycle was crossing and struck him. Cady stopped, got out of his SUV and walked over to look at the victim, then got back into the driver’s seat and drove to his home at the river inn trailer park. He never summoned help for the man, who died of his injuries. When CHP Officers arrived at Cady’s home a short time later he denied being involved but later admitted to it. Convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit and run resulting in death, Cady has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison.
