Cal-Fire To Lift Burn Ban On Monday

The suspension of agricultural and residential burning will be lifted Monday in Cal-Fire’s Shasta-Trinity Unit, but that does not include Redding. In the Cal-Fire protection area, as well as Anderson and Shasta Lake, permits are still required until the declared end of fire season and they can be acquired at burnpermit.fire.ca.gov . Redding Fire Marshal Craig Wittner says the city is not following suit until fire season ends, so for now burning is still banned within city limits. When burning, the ground should be scraped to the dirt ten feet around. A shovel and water supply must always be at hand. Burn piles cannot be left unattended, and they can be no larger than 4 feet wide and 4 feet high. Shasta County Air Quality has not been allowing burn days so far in November, and they have the final say. Burn day information is available by calling 224-8777. Information on safe burning is at fire.ca.gov.
