Update: Coroner ID’s Victims Of Fatal Crash On I-5 Interchange

Two people killed in a crash in the middle of the Interstate Five/Highway 44 interchange have been identified by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office. The wreck was discovered at around 9AM Sunday morning, but it may have happened hours earlier. The 2009 Dodge Charger apparently left the transition ramp from Northbound I-5 to Westbound 44 and hit an embankment and became wedged between two Pine trees. Both the driver and passenger were ejected and died at the scene. The two occupants, both from Anderson, have been identified as 23-year-old Justin Harley Hoover and 28-year-old Melissa Anne Satterfield. Next-of-kin notifications have been made and postmortem examinations have been scheduled. The collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. The crash was discovered after someone stopped to investigate car parts stuck in a tree.
