38th Annual Christmas Parade Set For Saturday Evening

A possibility of rain this Saturday will not douse the enthusiasm of the 38th annual Lighted Christmas Parade in Downtown Redding. The parade begins at 6PM regardless of the weather and it usually wraps up around 9PM. It’ll follow the standard downtown parade route, starting on California Street from Tehama Street south to Sacramento Street, over to Pine, and then east on Yuba. It will conclude at East Street. Portions of Oregon, Butte, Tehama and California Streets will close at 4PM to allow for staging of parade entries. The entire parade route will be closed to traffic at 5PM. Parking will not be allowed on the parade route and no parking zones will be in effect several days before the parade. Any vehicles parked on the route must be moved by 2 O’clock Saturday or they will be towed. The parade is organized by the Active 20-30 Club of Redding. Among the announcers will be Steve Gibson and Jim Bremer. They’ll be at Foundry Square on California Street.
