Mission Seeks Donations For Upcoming Christmas Celebration

The Good News Rescue Mission is seeking more food donations for their holiday meals. The mission is in need of 200 to 300 turkeys or hams to ensure they can provide for their list of local families. 500 local families will be provided with gift bags that contain everything needed to have a traditional Christmas dinner in their homes. In addition, the mission will host its 21st annual Christmas Celebration on Friday December 20th from 11AM until 6PM. There will be a children’s Christmas party in between servings from 3:30PM to 4:30PM. This event is not just for the homeless. The public is invited, regardless of economic or housing status. Community leaders and regular citizens stop by to volunteer, eat and celebrate the spirit of Christmas along with others who might not otherwise get to enjoy the holiday. For Thanksgiving, the mission served 1,285 meals, gave out 328 coats, and provided 450 turkeys to families at the Thanksgiving Banquet.
