Robbery Suspect Caught After Several Hours In East Redding

A robbery suspect was taken into custody when he was found nearby Thursday night with the most obvious of evidence in his possession. The robbery occurred at the Dollar General Store on Meadowview Drive off Airport Road at around 4:30PM, with employees saying a man had passed a note to the cashier that said “Give me the money”. No weapon was seen. The suspect fled on foot to where a Honda Accord was parked, but the getaway vehicle was captured on surveillance video at the PG&E Office across the street and police had a license plate number. Three and a half hours later, at 8:07PM, a Redding Police Officer spotted the Honda parked near Churn Creek Road and Denton Way. 28-year-old Devin Michael Martinez was with the car and he was later identified by the store clerk as the robber. As if that wasn’t enough, the car was searched and officers reported finding the stolen money, as well as the robbery note that had been used.
