Duo Sentenced For Breaking Into Foster Child Agency Building

Two Tehama County residents have been sentenced for breaking into an office, and then repeatedly returning to the scene of the crime. Joseph Betancourt and Marie Bennett have both been convicted of burglarizing the Children First Foster Family Agency in Red Bluff. Betancourt broke a window and both climbed inside to steal items. They both returned two more times to steal more things, and Betancourt came back a fourth time. The value of the stolen goods added up to $1,766. All the visits were captured on video surveillance. Betancourt and Bennett have received identical sentences of 6 months in jail, 80 hours community service and 5 years formal probation.
