Magrini Names Bomb Squad Commander As New Undersheriff

A man who’s well accustomed to explosive situations has been selected for the number two position in the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department. Former-Undersheriff-and-now-Sheriff Eric Magrini has chosen Jason Barnhart as his Undersheriff. Barnhart has been well known for years as the department’s bomb squad commander. He has also worked custody, patrol, field training, firearms instruction, anti-gang enforcement and sexual assault enforcement. He was sergeant of the year in 2014, made lieutenant in 2016 and captain in 2017 as he oversaw the records unit, personnel and office of emergency services. As Undersheriff, Barnhart will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, freeing up Magrini for his many duties as Sheriff.
