The CHP has released more details about a fatal Friday afternoon crash involving a delivery van and a big rig. The driver of the van, a 66-year-old Redding man was traveling eastbound on Highway 299 East, when he crossed over the double-yellow line and hit the Freightliner tractor-trailer head on. The van driver, who’s name has not been released, was found dead behind the wheel. The 37-year-old truck driver from Austin, Texas was uninjured. The crash was reported just before 2 O’clock near Ingot. For a while, traffic was halted from the outskirts of Burney on one end all the way to just east of Deschutes Road on the other end.
