A house off Railroad Avenue in Redding was damaged by fire Friday. A little after Noon, Redding Fire Department was called to a house on Henry Avenue on multiple reports of smoke pouring from the rear of the structure. Firefighters found the fire burning in the dining room and they made an aggressive attack, extinguishing the flames in 15 to 20 minutes and holding the fire to the single room, although smoke damage affected the entire house. The value of the damage is estimated at $50,000. Investigator Michael Ham determined that the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.
