Low Cost Firewood Available

Anyone who’s looking for inexpensive firewood and willing to do a little work will be interested in this. Starting this Saturday (2/1), and continuing through March, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is offering ten-dollar-per-cord permits to collect wood from specific log decks located around the park. There’s a limit of one permit per person and a maximum of 4 cords per person. Only credit or debit card transactions will be accepted. The logs would need to be hauled off and cut up. The downed wood is the result of hazard tree removal, as a result of the Carr Fire. For more information, go to the Visitor Center or call 246-1225.
