Deputies Use Ankle Monitor To Locate Man Accused Of Stealing Multiple Vehicles

A Keswick man on probation has learned that the ankle monitor he was wearing was not just a piece of jewelry. Last Tuesday an unregistered pickup was stolen from J&L Tow on Geary Street near Downtown Redding by a thief who cut the fence to get it out. The impounded truck had been found five days earlier near Pick & Pull by deputies responding to an alarm call. There was no suspect. Early Tuesday morning someone cut a fence at Keith’s Towing on Twin View Boulevard and drove a pickup out through a locked gate, causing $5,000 damage. That truck had been impounded by Redding Police Monday when the driver, 26-year-old Dillon Hobbs was caught driving on a suspended license. He was caught on surveillance at Keith’s and the GPS data on his ankle monitor showed he was there. Officers went to Hobbs’ home on Weiland Street in Keswick and arrested him after the pickup stolen Tuesday morning was found nearby and the pickup stolen last week was found in his front yard.
