Man Faces 11 Years In Prison After Conviction For July Chase

A Redding man who was wanted for domestic violence when he led police on a chase in July has been convicted by a Shasta County Jury. 33-year-old Timothy Chiemwichitra had committed the crime against his girlfriend on May 31st, then on July 20th he refused to pull over for a traffic stop downtown and led Redding Police on a chase. While trying to negotiate the uneven intersection at Shasta and Willis Streets, Chiemwichitra crashed the car into a cement wall. He fled on foot but, with the help of a CHP helicopter, was found hiding in some bushes less than a block away. He still refused to give up, so he was dragged out by Nord the K9. While in jail he kept in communication with his victim to try and keep her from testifying against him. On Tuesday a jury found him guilty of several felonies, including corporal injury to the mother of his child, assault with a deadly weapon, evading with disregard for public safety, and dissuading a witness. He was also convicted of several misdemeanors. When he’s sentenced February 24th, he could get up to 11 years 4 months in prison.
