Dogs Attack And Kill Corning High School Students Pigs

It’s been a rough few weeks for pigs in Corning, according to the Corning Observer. Three Corning High School students had been raising pigs for an FFA project, and they were being boarded at the high school’s Rodgers Ranch. The pigs were being raised for the Tehama District Fair 4H and FFA Livestock Auction in April. Two weeks ago dogs got into the pen and killed three of the pigs, injuring two others. Two of the students bought replacement pigs this week in hopes of salvaging their projects. The new pigs were placed at the ranch temporarily before they were to be moved to another location. Two hours later, dogs had already returned. They killed one of the pigs and badly injured another. The high school has hired a professional trapper to try and catch the dogs. In an unrelated incident, two other pigs perished in a fire that consumed a hay barn last Tuesday on Toomes Avenue in Corning.
