Update: Coroner ID’s Woman Killed In West Redding Collision

The identity of a woman killed in a traffic accident on Tuesday has been released by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office. 85-year-old Ann May Schwartz of Redding pulled out of a private driveway on the north side of Eureka Way near Whiskeytown Court. She was trying to make a left turn across traffic to go east but drove in front of a westbound Volkswagon driven by 26-year-old Chelsea Kefalas. Her Volkswagon crashed into the driver’s side of Schwartz’s Buick. Kefalas complained of pain, was able to walk away. Schwartz was taken to Mercy Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Airbags deployed in both cars, both drivers were wearing seatbelts and neither is suspected of being under the influence of anything.
