Update: Coroner ID’s Man Killed By Train In North Redding

A man killed by a train in North Redding Sunday morning has been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office as 39-year-old Robert Alan Bacon of Redding. At 8:30AM a southbound train was going around 40 miles an hour when it rounded a corner north of the Lake Boulevard Bridge. The locomotive crew saw Bacon sitting on the tracks and started blowing the horn, but bacon made no attempt to get out of the way. The train could not stop in time before it struck him. Bacon’s family has been notified and a post mortem exam is scheduled.
