Two people wanted by Redding Police were intercepted when they tried to flee. Saturday afternoon officers arrived at the Peterson Lane home of 33-year-old Derrick Skyler Steele and 32-year-old Kaula Louise Reed. Both are on probation and had multiple warrants. Reed was caught after leaving by a rear window. Steele started out the same window but saw police and went back inside. He refused to surrender despite commands by officers over a PA system. After about 40 minutes a pepper spray canister was lobbed inside but Steele still didn’t give up so officers forced the door open and took him into custody with the help of Otto the K9.
