A house was engulfed by fire just north of Redding, forcing the closure of a major road. The house is 13266 Bear Mountain Road, about three quarters of a mile east of Old Oregon Trail. Bear Mountain Road was closed for about an hour and a half Thursday morning. Cal-Fire was called before 5AM and they arrived to find the house fully involved, with fire spreading to surrounding trees and brush. An ambulance has been called for a resident suffering smoke inhalation. The house is a total loss, according to Cal-Fire. The cause is still under investigation. The Red Cross is assisting the two residents.
