Parolee Found Guilty Of Assaulting Elderly Disabled Man

A drifter who rewarded a disabled Mount Shasta man’s kindness by beating him up has been convicted by a Siskiyou County Jury. According to the Siskiyou Daily News, the 75-year-old wheelchair-bound victim had been allowing homeless people to stay at his house, and most were apparently well behaved. On July 25th of last year a concerned neighbor asked Mount Shasta Police to check on the welfare of the man, so an officer went to the home and found the victim had been struck in the head with a heavy telephone and a cane had been broken on his arms. 42-year-old Ryan Andrew Poling was arrested in the Mount Shasta Burger King parking lot. He was on parole at the time. He’s been found guilty of two felonies: assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse. Sentencing is set for March 2nd.
