Fish & Wildlife Raid Shasta County Marijuana Grows

Two Shasta County outdoor cannabis farms have been shut down by the State Department of Fish and Wildlife. Outdoor cultivation is not legal in the unincorporated areas of the county. Search warrants were based on suspected environmental violations. On January 30th an operation was raided in Anderson with 2,947 plants growing on structures with wooden floors on raised cinder blocks, along with 151 pounds of processed bud. Several hundred gallons of illegally stored diesel fuel had been leaching into the ground. On February 11th officers raided a similar operation in Lakehead that’s believed to be associated with the Anderson grow. The same sorts of structures were found in Lakehead supporting 4,302 growing plants. Another 24 pounds of processed bud was also found. Fish and Wildlife Officers also reported finding 2 illegal water diversions, huge amounts of garbage next to a stream and more improperly stored and leaking diesel. Evidence was also found that the growers were using a pesticide that’s prohibited for use on cannabis or food. Four men and three women were detained at the sites, and a complaint is being filed with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office.
